2009 was the second year of my independent life in Hyderabad. As always, my camera turned out to be my companion almost whenever I had time. This year was no different as I got accustomed to the local train (MMTS) and traveled to the various parts of Hyderabad. Street photography is not just about capturing moments but also about knowing the nooks and corners of the city. In early 2009, I was 22+ years old and full of aspirations. Practicing photography gave me an immense sense of satisfaction and as currently I am venturing out as a blogger/writer those photos helped me recall my past with distinct clarity.
I clicked this photo while strolling from the Nampally Railway Station to Abids. If I remember correctly, there was just enough sun to walk outside and with my camera in hand, I had the courage to take on even the extremes of the weather.
Later in the year, with my friends, we made travel plans to Shrisailam, a holy place famous for its temple. We had a fun time there as we crossed the river in a boat to visit a cave, full of bats, which had “shivling” placed deep inside in a narrow area. I could hardly breathe once inside there but the holy spirit kept me alive.
I also made travel plans to Rajasthan to attend the marriage in my friend’s family. Firstly, I made it to Amer Fort in Jaipur and from there traveled to Udaipur to attend the marriage ceremony. This was another adventurous episode.
The whole year was full of travel, mostly on the weekends. With some other folks in Hyderabad, I visited Bhongir Fort in a region near Hyderabad. We climbed a hilly region to reach the summit and witness a beautiful view. The entire process of travel by train and the climb was tiring, but the view was worth the effort. We even visited a temple in in the area and prayed to the deity.
By the time the year was about to end, my friend visited me from Bangalore and we again went to Charminar, Mecca Masjid and a Palace nearby. It was total fun!
The year 2009 was that full year of my independent life wherein I made mistakes and learned from my travel to different parts of the country. Enjoy the photos shared in this story!
